This week’s prompt: If.
A lot can hang on that little word.
“I’ll hang out with you…if I can pick where we go to eat.”
“I’ll do this favor for you…if you’ll do one for me.”
“I’ll love you…if you wear enough makeup.”
“I’ll be your friend…if it makes me look good to others.”
“I’ll get this job…if I can make a good enough impression.”
“I’ll follow where God leads me…if He lets me stay in my home country.”
“I’ll go to church…if God will heal my health issues.”
If makes things conditional. If creates uncertainty.
Aren’t you glad God doesn’t say, “I’ll let you into heaven…if you do enough good works?” Aren’t you glad He isn’t up there waiting for us to please Him before bestowing His blessings on His children?
God loves us freely and abundantly, regardless of what we do or who we are.
