Day 11: Door
This month, I’m participating in a Five Minute Friday challenge called “31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes,” responding to a one-word prompt for five minutes each day in October. Click here to join in!
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20
This verse is frequently quoted as an invitation to salvation. Too often, however, once we have answered the door and invited Jesus into our lives, we want to keep Him in the front room, the one that’s neat and clean with comfortable couches and cute pillows. Too often, we refuse to let Him see the rest of the “house,” because our hearts are messy, and we are embarrassed or and ashamed.
But Jesus wants to come all the way in–He wants to transform your heart. He wants to take all of the dirty, disorganized parts and turn them into something beautiful.
Will you let Jesus into the less-glamorous “rooms” in your heart? Will you let Him heal your hurts and cleanse your sin? Or will you keep Him in the living room, determined to impress Him?
